In Twist’s (2005) article, “Controversy Blights UN Net Summit,” the author criticizes that controlling the use of the internet in Tunis has become a problem and is against freedom of speech. First, the author introduces the organization like UN that tried to help poor countries through benefits of information and communication technology. Next, the author shows us that many people who know how important of sharing information is argued about what happened in Tunis. She explains to us several opinions of different countries that disputed freedom of expression in the internet. Then, the author shows the US said that the Tunisian government made a wrong policy which prohibits important parts to society from taking benefits from freedom of expression. However, she explains the other side, like China, which that agreed controlling and limiting online access is necessary for preventing serious crimes. Besides, she says that sharing information and communication is important to develop into an information society. In conclusion she states that it can be very hot issue to limit the right of freedom of expression for many countries, speech and sharing information in internet, but it is important to make international standards.
Have you ever thought that someone could force you to forfeit your right? Everybody has right to know certain things. There are several reasons why internet and any online access is important to us.
First, nowadays internet is the most important system in which we can get any information and knowledge. Many people use it in school, office and home to get information easily. For example, most students get information for learning from an online system. Furthermore, teachers also use online systems to teach students more efficiently. The internet system has replaced our source of knowledge that is from books, and it makes our life change easy and with variety. If someone controls the use of the internet system, it can make problems in education such as lack of material to expand knowledge and skill. So, internet system is very important system to get information in our education sector now.
Second, everyone has the right to get and know information. It is a basic right like freedom of sharing information. Internet system is a huge virtual world of information and knowledge, and most of it is open for everybody to get. It means that everyone can use it to get any information. Some countries like China control it to prevent crime. They said that the online system can be used by criminals, and it makes more crime. However, it is still against human right. Moreover, controlling the online system cannot be a good solution for reducing the rate of crime. It can make more illegal systems which criminals use to do something bad. It is just against freedom of sharing information. So, it cannot be controlled by anybody, because everybody has freedom to know something.
Last, the online system can be a good solution to making a better economy in our society. Sharing information and communication is needed by our society to solve the economic crisis and any problems. People who have suffered from no knowledge about their problems can get tremendous information in an online system. For example, South Korea has the experience that many parts of economy had suffered from long-term recession. So, they followed the Japanese’s example to make the recession go away, and in this process the online system helped them to get information easily. They gathered information about the solution that the Japanese used to make recession go away. If the government controlled getting information in the internet, it could be impossible to make recession go away easily. So, the online system is helpful to make a better economic situation in our society.
In conclusion, now our society needs the internet system to expand education and economic sectors. Huge information in the online world can help us with how to deal with any suffering and problem. It can help many people make better any parts of their life. This means that the online system can give more knowledge for students, teachers and any workers. Furthermore, nobody should control the use of the internet because it is a basic human right. If someone controls using the online system because of certain bad effects, it can make more different bad systems illegally, such as an expanding black market. Therefore, the internet is very important to us, and it is very useful in our society.
